ALEX AUGUSTE - THE INSOMNIAC

"Sleep Deprivation Is Our Own Personal Horror Movie to Experience"

If there's ever been a video that taps into how much the horror movie genre has inspired me, you would be required to immediately point to "THE INSOMNIAC". It's not hard to make a video feel eerie when it's 5am, red lights are glowing in contrast to green lights with the pulse setting on, and you're fighting sleep to get a small production done.

THE INSOMNIAC focuses on the contradiction and paradox we create when we prioritize being productive over resting, and then try to solve our lack of rest with leisure, pleasure, and vices that only contribute to our even worsening lack of rest. When sleep, meds, melatonin, counting sheep, removing the TV, phone, and tablet from your bedroom, we are often left with vices to help us feel removed from being pursued by the requirement of production. From sex, alcohol, drugs, and even creativity, modern life in Hustle Culture where the killer is simply our bodies seeking revenge on us to finally put us under.

"THE INSOMNIAC" is a complete Alex Auguste production, with writing, production, and directing credited. The video includes a sample of Minister Louis Ferrakhan during his 1994 sermon titled, "The Pain of Being A Black Man In Racist White America".

ALEX AUGUSTE - THE PERFECTIONIST

"And If She's Made In God's Image, How Is Vanity A Sin?"

In June of 2023, THE PERFECTIONIST broke ground to pave a new lane for I AM ALEX AUGUSTE. From short form content creation to full-blown video production, "The Perfectionist" brought together all the right people, resources, inspiration, and execution to be a great entry into video production.

Pulling widely from inspiration from movies, such as Evita (1996), Sin City (2005), Ex-Machina (2017); and books such as The Birthmark (Nathaniel Hawthorne), Franklin Bergeron (Kurt Vonnegut), the video portrays two types of women who, on paper, fit the description of what men want in a woman. The contradiction, though is between what's show and what's said in the lyrics. The ultimate message is that there is a need to break up with this fantasy altogether, realizing and appreciating that women and men alike are imperfect.

ALEX AUGUSTE - THE TOURIST (Reprise)

"We're Going Everywhere But Somewhere"

Summertime and travel require feel good music, that speaks to moments, making memories, and doing so with the people who matter the most. "The Tourist (Reprise), or "The Tourist II" is written by Alex and Davis Auguste as a song that celebrates wanderlust, love, and travel.

Originally titled "Everywhere But Somewhere", the song was intended to stand as a jingle or featured song for the website of the same name, which hosts Davis' photography.
