Stream Preview: It's Storytime With Alex Auguste
VividLife TV with Alex Auguste returns this week with a special topic and introduction as recent headlines continue talks of advancing generative artificial intelligence.
Just last week, OpenAI announced that their new Sora GPT can take texts and generate videos, a new advancement that is said to possibly change how marketers, creators, and other AI enthusiasts create across platforms.
Yeah. Easy-to-spot BS!
In a perfect world, as a creator, this would be awesome for creating short films, animations, and general storytelling. But during an election year in a world that is riddled with misinformation, disinformation, and - let's call it a spade - evil, it's becoming harder and harder to see where and how this technology will be used for good.
This week's VividLife TV brings us to a little story I wrote back in 2018 that was subtle in its introduction of Artificial Intelligence, racial tensions, election years, and a much larger more sinister plan. With 2024 marking the sixth year since We Missed A Meeting: They Chose You, Mr. Ferguson's release, we revisit the story against recent headlines to see just how much of the story has become reality.

We Missed A Meeting takes place in a city called The D and introduces us to a young, Black 26-year-old Richard Ferguson on the morning of June 8th, 2020. When Ferguson awakens and heads to work, he and his coworkers discover that somehow, they - a small collection of 45 Black Employees - are the only ones to show up at work. As they try their best to understand the possible miscommunication, they all discover that the issue has reached local, national, and international levels.
There seems to be no White People anywhere.
As chaos and speculation continue, Richard comes to realize that his assignment to an artificial intelligence project called BAKARA may be the reason why the authorities think he has something to do with the sudden Absence of everyone.
The novel was pretty well received during its release in 2018, and has only gotten more reviews since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic. 2020 was supposed to see the release of the sequel, Some Assembly Required, but this livestream on February 21st gives us an opportunity to bridge the gap between the stories, reality, and what's going on in recent news.
Tune in live starting at 8:30pm for a special storytelling edition of VividLife TV with Alex Auguste, streaming live from I AM ALEX AUGUSTE as well as on YouTube, Twitch, and Twitter/X.
