Poll Talk: My Instagram Followers Are Voting For the Top 10 Movies of 2022

It's been almost a week and a half now since I began polling my Instagram followers for their considerations on what 2022's Top 10 Films are. I gotta tell you, though, the voting has taken multiple turns for the questionable worse, but just like Pontius Pilate said, "Ayo, this ya'll choosin'". I think that's what he said.

Anyways, 2022 has been one hell of a year in movies, and there has been a lot to consider this year.

For one, Hollywood has finally gotten its bearings back after the pandemic. In fact, the pandemic made it so hard on the film industry that AMC hired Nicole Kidman to tell us before every single movie that sitting in a theatre is the best way to enjoy a film - not because the Dolby sound system, reclining seats, or for the Bavarian pretzels, but because in that theatre, movies remind us about the best of us. Chill, Nicki.

Anyways, we've finally seen the end of some pandemic-riddled productions, and many movies were finally able to finally stick to a release date without any further delays. On the flipside, though, companies like Netflix, Disney, and Hulu have poured more money into their studios for exclusive releases. As a movie-lover and as a consumer, it's not even unusual to hear that people don't go to see movies at all anymore, or even to wait until movies are available on streaming services. Likewise, from personal choices to poor promo and algorithms, it's easy to realize that we are all not watching the same movies.

So, that made it tough to really nail down a pool of movies at all. But here's where we started.

Criteria
For this poll, the films had to be full-feature movies. They could not be episodical or a series, like Netflix's Entergalactic, or part of a mini-series like Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story. Obviously, the next criteria is that the movie had to be released in 2022, so tha excludes last year's Don't Look Up.

Votes were gathered by presenting some of the biggest movie names and simply asking folks if they believed the movie had Top 10 potential or if they had seen it at all. After collecting the votes, a break down of win percentages was calculated with "Yes" and "no" representing wins and losses and "I did not see it" as a tie. Any movie ranking in over 50.00% win ratio and falling into a hierarchy made it to the Top 16.

Those movies, as voted for by my Instagram followers are below in a hierarchy of highest win % (or highest Yes votes).

The road to the Top 10 has been wild. You'll notice that the list is void of the likes of Thor: Love & Thunder, which has gotten a lot of criticism for taking the God of Thunder on a storyline that not a lot of people really liked or cared for. In addition to that, DC's Batman and Black Adam also didn't make the cut. And it's a good time to remind you that this list is generated entirely by the 170+ viewers who voted via my stories.

But it's interesting to see where we are now and what movies will be solidified in the Top 10. We're currently down to the Semi-Finals, with the last 4 movies competing and you'll see that following the Wild Card (which knocked Elvis and Don't Worry Darling out), the Top 14 has been a mess.
