New New In '22: I Am Alex Auguste

There's been a rebrand for 2022. Allow me to reintroduce myself: my name is Alex Auguste.
New New In '22: I Am Alex Auguste

This Is A Story...About Change, Growth & Evolution.

It's close to three years ago, that I was shaking my head, somewhat in frustration, telling myself that I was going to hang up the name that graced me with a career as a multi-hyphenated entertainer in Tampa Bay. The problem then, though, was that the career no longer felt like grace. My abilities also didn't feel so multi-hyphenated anymore. In fact, around that time, there really was no entertainment going on at all. I would have spent the large majority of 2019 away from events, away from hosting, and generally to the privacy of my home, on hiatus editing a second edition of my first novel We Missed A Meeting, that had been published the prior year.

The name had been born in the growing talents of a then-19-year-old me, who was performing around town as a Spoken Word artist and host for events both on the campus of The University of South Florida as well as a few small spots in Tampa's poetry scene.

From there, it carried me to a more focused medium - radio. As the host of the popular college radio show, GoodKnocking Radio, I was able to put more than one of my talents into the bowl, mix it together, and create something big - huge - out of virtually nothing. The name also helped tremendously when I would later be suspended from any and all university functions and activities for two years. I thought to myself that the name on the document I had to sign wasn't the same as the name I used at the top of every hour of our show, so, why not take up the moniker and turn it into a brand.

From that relentlessness to continue grinding and growing, a 22-year-old me took the stage to introduce Ludacris at the university's Homecoming Carnival and Parade. Finally, no longer suspended from activities, the name was far more of a badge and a brand then it was a cloak. The visibility that had offered by 2012 gave me the opportunity to be on mic at over 700 events over the course of that career.

2019 was on pace to being the only year in ten years that I hadn't hosted an event. In fact, I actually didn't want to. I was ready to hang it all up - the events, the podcasts, the radio, the name - but had it not been for close friends and family, I decided to keep the name publicly while I figured out the finer details of what was next.

In January of 2020, I decided to call it all quits with GoodKnocking Entertainment Group. It was the rose that had grown from the concrete of college radio, an entity that would go independent for internet radio, garnish over 50,000 listens per month, and create a platform for a couple dozen artists in the Bay for their first radio/podcast interviews. Sunsetting that business let me know I was closer and closer to wrapping up the name, but 2020 showed us all that whatever we thought we had planned out wasn't going to go quite as planned.

As you'll learn in my docu-series, MY REAL VIVID LIFE, which is available on YouTube now in a two-part intro, outside of the COVID-19 pandemic, 2020 offered me a nice roller coaster of emotions, reflection, and thinking. It's all of that that had me coming up with a greater idea for my next big move, and would eventually lead me to creating The Unlikely Company. With Unlikely, I didn't have a plan - at all. It was just an LLC, a few ideas, one project, and vibes. But taking the time to sit on the egg 'til it hatches gave me an opportunity to do some deep soul-searching, thinking, and strategizing.

I'm very glad that I didn't abandon ship in March of 2019. It would have been premature. Fate and destiny would have it that I'd be called back to host Love Jones Thursdays again on one of the biggest nights ever - Super Bowl Weekend - in 2021, and would galvanize the whole idea and experience of who I am, what I do, and reposition that multi-hyphenated thing and with even more glow this time.

More pop.

More pizazz.

And as 2021 wrapped up and I initially toyed with the idea of doing a docu-series, I realized that all of this was leading to the same place, it's just the process had to differ. By mid-November of 2021, I put in place that I would be growing away from Mistah Marvel, and moving forward exclusively as Alex Auguste.

Thankfully, this idea was supported heavily by the progressive building of The Unlikely Company is its own new name: MRVL WRLD. And so, creatively, there is no differences between Alex Auguste - the author, the storyteller, the creative - to be shared with any other moniker or personas because, well, Alex Auguste is all of that.

Author. Visual Content Creator. Sales Strategist. Event MC. Podcaster. Artist. Man Crush Monday. Model. Creative Entrepreneur. Entertainer. Personality. & Storyteller.

Multi-hyphenated.

And so, since the Mistah Marvel Era has come to an end, I officially welcome you to my new website: I Am Alex Auguste.
