Over the course of the last six years, I've felt called to journal more, to document more of my life, and to be unafraid of both the stories, experiences, and expressions of both what is real and how I've perceived those experiences. In the middle of 2020, I began revisiting what it meant to use words and my voice to create. It had been a long process of trying to rediscover both my pen and my voice. In the middle of that process, the signs were showing that the time wasn't right.
Instead of packing it up forever, I've spent the last 6 summers living experiences while watching the world through the lens of what I've already put on paper as those experiences.
From romantic frustrations, heartbreak, joy, depression, and seeing my visions for storytelling come to life, those six summers built MRVL WRLD while also giving me a base to jump off of when the time was right. Four years ago, the first recordings were made - only adlibs - and the next four summers were spent building lyrics that spoke to the vibe, the melodies, the harmonies, and the stories I've told. Every open mic performance was another freestyle, adding new lines and new bars to the music that existed, but was unfinished.
My goal was to grow as a person and as an artist while building this project. When the time was right, I would know. And since this is a living project, it would only make sense that when I know the time is right, it would be very easy and comfortable to release it to the world.
